Companion not working

How to Connect to Companion Using a Simple Trick

I found a method that works for me when trying to connect to Companion, and I hope it helps you too!

Steps:

  1. In Chrome, install and use the VeePN extension.
  2. Start connecting to Companion. When the progress shows something like 20% or 48%, turn on the VPN.
  3. You should see that Companion connects within a few seconds.

I’ve tested this myself, and it worked perfectly.
Give it a try — hopefully, it helps you too!

:white_check_mark: If it works, please mark this as the solution.

Can you please confirm if both your mobile phone and computer are on the same network?

Same problem, both on the same network, very rarely, a connection after several minutes.
I’ll probably switch back to APP INVENTOR. It’s all too insecure for me.

yes they are on same network, i tried everything but not got a solution

Securevpn in mobile with
Kodular companion version 1.5C.3 works good. Using the same for last one month due to no solution still why it is not connected with 1.5D versions. No response from community too even after many times reported. May 14 fenjx too says still companion will be released soon in play store.

Same issue, both my PC and mobile are using the same WiFi, but it disconnects after 1-2 minutes.

I’m not able to replicate the issue. I’m using the latest version 1.5D.3, and even after 5 minutes it keeps working

Yes the issue is, this problem is not commom for all. Only certain users face it. Me to still experiencing. If i didnot use any extensions then companion will get connected where as if i use any extension after scanning the code few seconds later we will get an error alert

Thanks for linking that post, totally missed it tbh… I will give a try to those files through this week (I’m going on holidays soon, so my availability is a bit limited), and see if I can replicate.

In the meantime, can you also share the mobile phone model and Android version you are using? Just to see if maybe it’s a device-specific behaviour.
EDIT: Nvm, found it here: Companion Bug: Not Responding When Importing Extension - #9 by Still-learning

For me, it makes no difference whether a component is installed or not. Sometimes Companion starts after a few minutes, but rarely.

I have just made a quick change to test if the issue is resolved. Can you confirm if the issue still persists?

Nope. Still not working , tested from my end in multiple devices. Companion not connected if we upload any extension. with latest and old version but succeed with secureVPN and version 5C.3

Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4
5D version without vpn not at all connected
5D version with vpn connected if no extn
5D version with vpn loading percentage completed in desktop but companion still stanidn at the home page
5C version with vpn connected with extn and without extension

some users want to work in night time but the companion tend to disconnect after 1 or 2 minutes. Please kodular tech team resolve this issue soon.

it’s been a long time without any proper solution from the Kodular team. As someone who has been using the platform for quite a while, I believe the most reliable way to get the Companion working right now is by using a secure VPN, preferably set to a US or UK server, and sticking with version 1.5C.3 of the Companion. It’s important to skip the update prompt when it appears, as updating usually breaks the connection. If the Companion auto-updates overnight, uninstall it and reinstall the older version. This method has worked consistently for me, and others in the community have also confirmed similar results.

if we have to use third party services than why we are paying charges for PREMIUM.

It’s been over a month and the Companion issue still hasn’t been fixed. we paying for Premium, having to rely on third-party workarounds doesn’t feel justified. The concern is valid. At the same time, it looks like the issue is recent, and I believe the team might be aware by now. They’ve taken time before but usually do respond — though yes, this delay is longer than expected and definitely disappointing.
