There is a theme option on screen one. Try changing it
Light theme and dark theme

You are using Light Theme.
Default and Light Theme are more or less the same except for Default that has DarkActionBar
Default --> DarkActionBar with white text (expects dark color, blue etc)
Light Theme --> LightActionBar with black text (expects light color, white etc)
