How to use White colour when the phone is in dark mode?

My app is built around dark mode friendly colours, i.e black and darker shades of grey. I don’t see a reason why my app would need dark mode to begin with, however most people have their phones set at dark mode all the time, atleast my friends do.

I’m using white colour card view to indicate something, but when in dark mode the white actually turns into black and I’m unable to use the colour altogether.

How do I go by using the colour white in my app (pure white, not toned down) along with the device in dark mode.

Can I stop the app from going into dark mode?
