It’s fully legal if their prices are equal.
How do you know they are buying it for you?
Unless you get it directly from the developer you can’t know that for certain.
So my suggestion is they purchase it from the developer in your name and have the developer send the extension directly to you.
Note: I have actually done this very thing before to help someone out.
