Using assets outside the app folder

Friends I need some help using images and sounds that are not in the app folder.
I am trying to use them like this:
file: /// mnt / sdcard / …
Images are not shown, sounds are not played, and I get an error.
How should I point to these files?

Grateful to everyone who tried to help and sorry for not providing more information.
I thought such a simple question would be understood by you without having to make the blocks available. As I imagined, I was going wrong in pointing the file path.
With the example provided by bodymindpower find out the right way to do it.
