Hi. I want to introduce ALFA-Vision V1.0, an extension i developed to facilitate access to the front camera of Android devices from Kodular/App Inventor, especially for projects that need to automatically capture images without displaying a camera preview. Create by me, Richel Manuel Fundora Alvarez, ALFA-Vision uses camera2 and allows you to:
Use the device’s front camera, Take periodic captures at a configurable interval from Kodular, Capture images without displaying a camera preview, Obtain and save images in JPEG format, Automatically convert each capture to Base64, Deliver the Base64 encoding via an event so can used later with any IA with vision capabilities, Start and stop periodic captures from blocks, Manage camera Permissions, Use events to detect errors, Release the camera when it’s no longer in use.
The extension does NOT contain API Keys and does NOT connect directly to any AI. Its sole function is to capture the image and deliver it to Kodular, Including the option to obtain it as Base64. Each developer then decides what to do with it.
Testing on XiaomiHyperIOS and Motorola e6s, including functionality from Kodular Companion during testing, periodic captures were performed automatically, without needing to touch the screen between captures. It is designed for Android 8 (API26), compatibility may vary depending on the manufacturer’s camera implementation, so i appreciate feedback from those who test the demo apk on other devices.
