Difference between Firebase Token and URL? without token can my app run?

Firebase token field is blank , Just firebase URL is given and my app is working fine, hows that possible? what is the difference between firebase token API and URL? please explain

If you are using any authentication method to sign in/write/read then firebase token is needed.

If not with the help of only firebase URL will do the functions
