I remember my excitement when I came to know that you can build IOS apps with thunkable. It only lasted until I found out that you need to pay $99/yr for developer account.

Can you show us what else was in MIT App Inventor Summit?
Out of the top of my head:
They are experimenting with realtime collaberation. So you can work together on a project.
You can test it here

They want to work on their documentation and present it in a different way inside the builder or blockseditor. So you don’t have to go to a separate page to read it.
They are thinking about working with translations of documentation.
They are working on a different curriculum.
They need to work on their Bluetooth low energy extension. Only the old version works correctly with for instance a Micro-bit.

By the way, everyone will definitely love the that feature. And you won’t be able to stop using the feature. Trust me. Thanks to Kodular again for making the AI2 experience better than ever. I got shocked when I saw the feature for first time.

No, no… After @Diego told us the new feature I was sure that this will be a prank or only fake…
I tried out the BETA server and I thought that this will not be able to introduce it to any AI distribution, but I am sure that after a while App Inventor will be copy Kodular because Kodular is the only number one!

If you read the draft release notes we clearly say that we are going to migrate it to app inventor 
I’ve already talked with them about it, and it’s something that is so useful that has to be on AI
