Just a suggestion -
Most Android users are used to left-hand side side bars, so switching your side bar to the left might help.

While I voted for 3 could I suggest the first one but with the blue outline and text used in the second one. So blue outline and text but white background.

Left hand side is for menu and navigation right side is for settings and stuff
