Sure
The floating action button can be very handy to dynamically create a button that can be placed in any of the quadrants. Top Right, Left Bottom Right Left. Its great if you are wanting to create an immediate button response, maybe a scroll option, debugging information, etc.
I suggest you try it out, look at the blocks like animation etc, and see if it can work for you.
