An update from Kodular Staff

Hi Koders!

As you may have noticed, we have launched an update a few days ago, after quite a long time without any activity. It didn’t go as smooth as we planned, but it got launched and all issues were resolved within a couple of hours.
We also know there has been some “questions” about the future of Kodular itself, as we were not really active in the community for these past months. So, we are writing this post to give light over a couple of topics, and to make clear that Kodular is not going to close.

Staff Activity

We would like to apologize to all users because we, as staff, were not really active in the community, and did not really maintain a close communication with everyone.
As you may know, Kodular is not our primary job duty (we are students or others have a full-time work), so sometimes it is hard to get the right time to work on the project. However, considering the size of the project, we believe we have a responsibility to keep the project alive for more than 2 million daily users. Thus, these past months have not being as active as we would have liked, and we want to apologize for that.

So, to avoid that happening again, we already had both an internal meeting and another meeting with some of the top users from the community. We explained the situation, and the upcoming roadmap for the platform.
One of the key things is to give more transparency in the community, so you can know what we are working on. To achieve this, we are going to start working with JetBrains YouTrack, where you all will have access to the following platform:

kodular.youtrack.cloud

You can directly check right there the issues and pending features that are being under development.

Admob Deprecation

Also, as you may have already read, we are deprecating Google Admob in favor of Google Ad Manager. As of now, new apps can no longer use Google Admob components, and have to go directly through Google Ad Manager.
We are doing this as we have a close partnership with Google, and we are able to provide dedicated support regarding this integration, as well as providing better eCPM, fill rates and revenue share.

To get started and migrate, you can take a look at this detailed guide:

Also, we would like to migrate all Google Admob traffic to Google Ad Manager. To achieve this, next Kodular update will make apps using Google Admob to fail their builds. This update is going to be a huge one (you can read more about this in the section below).
:warning: With an scheduled release date on 26th June, all existing apps should have migrated to Google Ad Manager, as trying to export these apps will result on a failure.

Sellers.json

Additionally, with this new Google Ad Manager integration, Google is now requiring intermediaries to publish their own sellers.json file. This file is used to list the “authorized” publishers regarding an ad inventory. Google has their own published here (you can try to find your publisher code): realtimebidding.google.com/sellers.json.

We, as Kodular, are now intermediaries between Google and you (the publishers), so we have to publish this file as well to complete the SupplyChain Object. You, as publishers, do not need to publish it, but you have to make a small change in your app-ads.txt file:

junnovate.com, kcn-CHILD_NETWORK, DIRECT
google.com, pub-7724198591595211, RESELLER, f08c47fec0942fa0

:warning: Please, replace CHILD_NETWORK with your child network code (you can find it in admanager.google.com). That kcn-22245175312 (for example) code is called the seller ID, and it is going to be published in our own sellers.json file: junnovate.com/sellers.json. If you are unsure about your network code, feel free to message us.
Additionally, you may want to confirm that your network is published in our sellers.json file. Search for your name and/or seller ID. If you cannot find it, try logging in to My Kodular, and visit the Payments page. Then, check again. If it still does not show, you can message us.

Big Update

As stated above, we are working on a huge update to address most of the issues and make sure that Kodular keeps running for more years.
At a glance, this update will bring Target SDK 32, and will (finally) integrate the new Android file system, so all related bugs to that problem should be solved. It will also include new features and minor improvements as well.
But it will also finally deprecate Google Admob components, as they will no longer be available, even for existing apps. Thus, migration to Google Ad Manager shall be mandatory by that date if you want your app to target Android 12.

:dart: We are aiming to launch this update on the 26th of June 2022. We will keep the community up-to-date if this changes at any point.

Once again, thanks everyone for using Kodular and trusting us. We are sorry for not being as active as we have wanted, but be sure that this will no longer happen again.
We have plenty of new ideas to ease app development, and we would like to integrate them in our platform, and listen to all your feedback.

Happy Koding! :kodular:

Thank You for this Information.
but some error occur after new update . Screen1 work fine but other screens error open and open again please solve this issue.
Thank you Kodular Team.

Thank You, but what about app approval? In the last post, you mentioned about faster approval. Any update on that?.
Also, commission break down from different kodular version in kodular reporting is still not working.

Suggested that the kodular in each update, make a beta version and keep the old until solve all the problems of new version.
That is will provide effort and time reviewing your problems, I hope to be a useful proposal. Happy :kodular:

But still the the error upon selecting the colour is not yet been solved. We are solving it as per @dora_paz suggestion

And still user failed to compile if they didn’t set the default colour theme in settings. Earlier version we do not have such errors.

fix my problem I am getting very upset because of this problem, you should do something soon, Kodular team.

Regarding ads approval, we are working on a new system using machine learning. It is in early development stage though, so it may take some time to get it ready (the accuracy right now is very low to launch it to production yet).

That’s good to hear. :+1:
Though it has been discussed earlier but still I would suggest to give moderators access to the approval system. Maybe it won’t affect the approving speed but it will surely not make a lot of users disappointed about the time it consumes.

You said that the applications will be revoked to display Google Ads, but unfortunately this has not been done for many days and when the discussion takes place the easiest thing is to delete the comments – there is supposed to be a practical explanation of everything that is said so that members can work – and canceling the ads means not working – Please solve the problems and enjoy the chest. Perhaps some users are the source of their livelihood. The ads are from Admob, and they have been transferred from other platforms to you, and now you have canceled the ads and are asking for approval and approval does not take place, and there is no practical explanation for that

Congratulations kodular team. Don’t leave us alone. Please pay more attention to this issue of ads, as for many they are the only source of income to create apps. If developers don’t have revenue then they will lose the incentive to create app and so everyone loses. Thank you all

We were waiting for a bigger update than Kodular
But unfortunately, kodular problems are increasing day by day.

So because of this our work is stopped or give us approval or reject the app, it is affecting our work badly and our work is not going ahead.

amazing to hear these news. I have a question, there is a topic called “Avoid Crashes of the Application for some of the components”, these errors will be fix with this new update?

They are already fixed with Kodular Fenix 1.5.4 update
I noticed it a week ago and mentioned in the topic.

Suggestion: let user makes ListView enable or disable after a click.

Hi, please, it would be better if the ad approval time is shorter.
