What do you mean? If the min. API level has been set to 4.1, your app will run both on Android 4 and above like Android 8.
if you app is for lower android version then it can work on higher versions but reverse is not same

Be careful if you use extensions. They may use features that are either not available in early versions, or deprecated in later ones.
Keep an eye on the distribution percentages, and remember your demographic may use a different percentage
