Hello, I am using a plugin to extract CSS data from a website. Can I publish this app on the Play Store?
I asked ChatGPT for you
Taifun
Answer:
Yes — you can publish your app on the Play Store as long as it complies with Google Play’s policies and doesn’t violate copyright, scraping, or data privacy rules.
If your app only extracts public CSS data (for example, reading styles or structure from a public webpage to display content), that’s generally fine.
However, you cannot:
- Scrape or use data that’s copyrighted or not meant for public use.
- Collect or share user data without consent.
- Mislead users about your app’s purpose or data source.
Before publishing, double-check:
- Your app doesn’t break the website’s Terms of Service.
- You have permission if you’re reusing content or design elements.
- You follow Google Play Developer Policies on data use and web content.
If the plugin just fetches and parses publicly accessible HTML/CSS, your app will normally be accepted — but if it’s used for automated scraping or cloning a website’s look, it may get rejected or taken down later.
I also asked chap gpt but he did not give such an answer.
I was asking the following question
Someone asked in the Kodular community: Hello, I am using a plugin to extract CSS data from a website. Can I publish this app on the Play Store?
Taifun
I didn’t understand. When I asked, Chat GPT said I would face legal liability. I’m pulling data from this site, doviz.com, using web scraper. I’ll publish it accordingly. I don’t want my account to be closed without paying a fortune and releasing an app.
I understand
You should probably consult a lawyer, just to be safe… Unfortunately, no one here can offer you legal advice.
Taifun
I did not ask for legal advice, I just asked a question.
I currently have nothing to add to my first answer
Taifun
Okay, maybe there will be someone else who knows.
You can scrap, but make sure you make changes in HTML & CSS class not identical to origionl, you have to make changes ID, NAME, CLASS name differ.
And through this you can use.
